1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV) “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Appreciation is more than saying “thank you.” It is recognising the value of someone and showing them that they matter. Sometimes we assume people know we appreciate them, but appreciation becomes meaningful when we express it through our words and actions.
The Bible encourages us to give thanks in all circumstances. This means choosing to recognise the good in others and not allowing ourselves to focus only on their faults. Our words have the power to encourage, strengthen, and bring life to the people around us.
This includes the people who lead and serve us spiritually. Pastors and leaders carry responsibilities that we may not always see. They pray, prepare, teach, guide, and care for others. We can honour them by praying for them, encouraging them, and showing genuine gratitude for the ways God uses them in our lives.
But appreciation shouldn't be limited to one special Sunday. It should become a way of life. Our families, friends, church leaders, and fellow believers should experience our gratitude through how we speak and how we treat them.
We don't need to wait for a special occasion to tell someone they have made a difference. A sincere word of encouragement can change someone's day and remind them that their efforts matter. Let's keep our hearts thankful and our appreciation unmuted!
Lord, thank You for the people You have placed in my life. Forgive me for the times I have overlooked their efforts or taken them for granted. Help me to have a thankful heart and to use my words to encourage, strengthen, and build others up. Teach me to appreciate the people who serve and lead me, and to make gratitude part of my everyday life. May my words and actions reflect Your love. Amen.
Think of three people who have made a difference in your life. This week, take time to thank each of them personally. Be specific about what you appreciate and how they have helped you.
Today we declare that we will live with thankful hearts. We will recognise the good in others and speak words that bring life. We will honour those who lead, serve, and encourage us. We will not take the people God has placed in our lives for granted. Our appreciation will be seen in our words, our actions, and our love. We choose to make gratitude a lifestyle and keep our appreciation unmuted! In Jesus' name, Amen.
