“You did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption…” Romans 8:15 (ESV)
Father’s Day can stir up a mix of emotions. For some, it’s joy. For others, it’s pain—especially when a father was absent, silent, or harmful. But Romans 8 reminds us that no matter our earthly experience, we’ve been adopted by a Heavenly Father.
God doesn’t call us slaves. He calls us sons and daughters. You don’t earn that place—you receive it. The Holy Spirit comes to heal what was broken, fill the gap where a father was missing, and unlock your true identity. Even Jesus was affirmed by His Father before doing anything. So hear this: you are loved, chosen, and called—not because of your performance, but because of your position in Christ.
Father, thank You for adopting me as Your child. Heal what’s broken in me and remind me I am fully loved. Amen.
