THE KITCHEN
2 Corinthians 2:15 (ESV) "For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing."
Have you ever walked into a home and immediately smelled fresh bread, coffee, or something delicious baking? Before you even saw the kitchen, the aroma told you something good was happening.
Our lives are much the same. Long before people hear our words, they experience the atmosphere we carry. Our attitudes, our reactions, our conversations, and our character all reveal what has been "cooking" in our hearts.
God is the Master Baker. He takes ordinary, imperfect ingredients—our gifts, our weaknesses, our failures, and even our pain—and transforms them into something beautiful. But every ingredient must be surrendered to His hands. Flour must be poured out, butter must soften, eggs must be broken, and dough must go through the oven before it becomes bread.
Sometimes we find ourselves in an "oven season," where life feels difficult and the pressure is high. It's easy to think God has forgotten us, but He hasn't. Just as a baker carefully watches over what is in the oven, God is carefully shaping us. He knows exactly what we need and exactly how long the process should take.
As we trust Him, He produces in us an aroma that points people to Jesus. Our homes, workplaces, friendships, and church should be filled with hope, grace, kindness, forgiveness, and faith—because those are the things that have been cooking in God's kitchen.
Father, thank You for patiently working in my life. Help me to trust You with every season, especially when I don't understand the process. Fill my heart with Your love, grace, peace, and joy so that my life reflects the aroma of Christ wherever I go. Shape me into someone who nourishes and encourages others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today, intentionally add one "ingredient" to your life that reflects Christ—show kindness, offer forgiveness, encourage someone, or pray with a person who needs hope. Let the aroma of Jesus be evident in your actions.
Today we declare: As a family, we place our lives in the hands of the Master Baker. We trust Him in every season, knowing He is working all things together for His glory and our good. Our home will be filled with the aroma of Christ. Hope, grace, kindness, forgiveness, and faith will always be on our menu. We will nourish others with God's love and point people to Jesus through the way we live. Amen.
