"They asked each other, 'Were not our hearts burning within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?'" Luke 24:32 (NIV)

The disciples on the road to Emmaus experienced holy heartburn when they had fellowship with Jesus. They said, “Were not our hearts burning within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

Fire comes from the Lord, but we are responsible for keeping it burning. God will send the fire, but we must add wood to it through our devotion, prayer, and communion with Him.

Declaration Prayer:

In the name of Jesus, I declare that my heart is a firebox for the Lord, burning with the life and warmth of the Gospel. I have gathered enough wood to sustain me through the winter seasons of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
