"So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love." Ephesians 3:17 (NIV)

The word Paul uses here for “dwell” — that Christ may dwell in you — is a compound word that essentially means to live in a house. However, when a prefix meaning down is added, the word takes on a deeper meaning: to settle down, to be at home in a house.

Paul is not simply praying that Jesus would come and live in your heart, as if merely visiting. He is praying that Christ would settle down and be completely at home in your heart and life.

Declaration Prayer:

In the name of Jesus, I declare that my heart is a dwelling place for the Lord. Anything that is not of Jesus has no right to be attached to me or make its home in my heart.
