LEGACY: UNO
James 1:19 (ESV) βLet every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.β
We don't get to choose every card we're dealt in life. We can't control every circumstance, disagreement, pressure, or difficult season. But we can choose how we respond.
Our families and relationships are built in the ordinary moments β around the dinner table, in the car, during difficult conversations, and when life doesn't go according to plan. These moments are opportunities to build the kind of legacy we want to leave behind.
Sometimes our biggest challenge is responding from what we've experienced in the past. But just because something was part of our family history doesn't mean it has to be part of our future. In Christ, we are a new creation. We can choose to change the direction.
When life deals us a difficult card, we don't have to play it alone. We can bring our burdens to God and support one another. We may not know what card is coming next, but we can trust the God who already knows what is in our hands. We may not choose the card, but we can choose how we play it.
Lord, thank You that I don't have to face every situation on my own. Help me to respond with wisdom, patience, kindness, and love. Show me the patterns from my past that need to change, and help me build a better legacy for those who come after me. When life gets difficult, remind me to trust You with the card in my hand instead of worrying about what might come next. Amen.
Today, choose one situation that has been frustrating you and respond differently. Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. Put that situation in God's hands and choose a response that reflects Him.
Today we declare that our family will not be defined by the cards we are dealt. We will choose love over anger, forgiveness over bitterness, and peace over conflict. We will break unhealthy patterns and build a new legacy through Christ. We will carry one another's burdens and refuse to face difficult seasons alone. We trust God with the card in our hand and believe He is leading our family into a new chapter. In Jesus' name, Amen.
