DROP THE JAR
John 4:28-29 (NIV) "Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 'Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?'"
The Samaritan woman came to the well carrying a water jar, but she was also carrying something much heavier—shame, disappointment, regret, and a thirst that water could never satisfy. Jesus met her right where she was. He knew her entire story, yet He didn't reject her. Instead, He offered her something greater: Living Water that would satisfy her forever.
When she encountered Jesus, everything changed. She left her jar behind because what she found in Christ was far more valuable than what she came looking for. Her priorities shifted from meeting her own needs to sharing her testimony with others.
Many of us are still carrying "jars" that Jesus never intended us to hold onto—fear, guilt, insecurity, bitterness, or the weight of our past. Jesus invites us to leave those things at His feet. When we realize we are fully known and fully loved, we are free to live differently and to tell others what He has done in our lives.
Your story doesn't have to be perfect to point people to Jesus. Sometimes the greatest testimony is simply, "I met Jesus, and He changed my life."
Father, thank You for loving me completely, even though You know every part of my story. Help me to let go of anything I've been carrying that doesn't belong in my hands. Fill me with Your Living Water and satisfy the deepest needs of my heart. Give me the courage to share my testimony and point others to You. Use my life to help someone else find Jesus. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Take a few moments today to identify one "jar" you've been carrying—whether it's fear, shame, regret, or insecurity. Surrender it to God in prayer, then intentionally share something Jesus has done in your life with one person this week.
Today we declare: As a family, we choose to leave every burden at the feet of Jesus. We will drink from the Living Water that only He provides. We are fully known, fully loved, and fully forgiven. We will not allow our past to define us, and we will boldly share our story so that others may come to know Jesus. We choose to leave no one behind. Amen.
