SCRIPTURE

John 1:41-42 (NIV) “The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, ‘We have found the Messiah’... And he brought him to Jesus.”

Devotional Thought

One of the most powerful truths in Scripture is that God often changes lives through simple acts of obedience. When Andrew met Jesus, he didn't attend a training course, earn a degree, or wait until he felt qualified. The first thing he did was find his brother Simon and bring him to Jesus. That one conversation changed everything.

Simon became Peter, one of the most influential leaders in the early church. Thousands would eventually hear the Gospel through Peter's preaching, but it all started because one person cared enough to invite one person.

Many of us underestimate the impact of a simple invitation, a text message, a prayer, a conversation, or an act of kindness. We think God only works through large crowds and big platforms. Yet throughout Scripture, God repeatedly uses ordinary people to reach one person at a time.

Like a sunflower naturally turns toward the sun, our first responsibility is to stay close to Jesus. As we spend time with Him, His love, peace, and hope begin to overflow from our lives. People notice the difference, and God uses our everyday interactions to point them toward Him.

You don't have to reach everyone. You just need to be faithful with the one person God has placed in your life.

Someone once refused to leave you behind. Now God may be asking you to do the same for someone else.

1. Who first helped me come closer to Jesus?
2. Is there someone in my life who needs encouragement, prayer, or an invitation to church?
3. Am I intentionally living in a way that points others toward Jesus?
4. What is one practical step I can take this week to share God's love with someone?

Prayer

Father, thank You for the people You used to bring me closer to You. Thank You for Your grace that found me when I was lost. Help me to see people the way You see them. Give me courage to share Your love through my words and actions. Show me who my "one" is and help me to faithfully point them toward Jesus. Use my life to bring hope, encouragement, and truth to those around me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Action Step

Pray and ask God to place one specific person on your heart this week. Reach out to them through a message, phone call, coffee meeting, invitation to church, or simple act of kindness. Trust God to use that step of obedience.

Family Declaration

As for me and my house, we will not keep God's goodness to ourselves. We will love people the way Jesus loves people. We will pray for others, encourage others, and point others to Christ. We believe God can use one conversation, one invitation, and one act of obedience to change a life. We will leave no one behind. In Jesus' name, Amen.
