WEEKLY DEVOTION

BEHOLD: THE LAMB

Scripture Reading:

“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29 (ESV)

“The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.” John 10:17–18 (NIV)

“The blood shall be a sign for you… and when I see the blood, I will pass over you.” Exodus 12:13 (ESV)

Devotional Thought:

When John the Baptist first saw Jesus, he didn’t call Him King, Teacher, or Miracle Worker. He stopped everything and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.”

In Scripture, a lamb represents sacrifice, substitution, and surrender. A lamb carries what others cannot. That is exactly what Jesus came to do. Sin, shame, guilt, and fear are far too heavy for human shoulders.

Yet many of us live exhausted because we keep carrying what Jesus already offered to take away. The Lamb did not come to temporarily cover sin — He came to remove it completely. What weighed you down, He lifted. What condemned you, He conquered. And He did it willingly.

Jesus was not forced to the cross. He chose it. Long before you failed, struggled, or questioned your worth, He decided you were worth rescuing. The Lamb was God’s plan before sin ever entered the world.

When the blood of the lamb was placed on the doorposts in Exodus, everything changed. Death passed over. Slavery ended. Identity shifted. One touch transformed an ordinary home into a place of salvation.

That same Lamb still touches lives today.

When Jesus touches a heart, shame loses its grip. When Jesus touches a home, fear no longer rules.

When Jesus touches your story, what was marked for destruction becomes marked for destiny. Beholding the Lamb means trusting Him to carry what you were never meant to hold — and believing that when He touches your life, everything changes.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What burdens have you been carrying that Jesus has already offered to take away?
  2. Do you struggle to believe that Jesus chose the cross willingly for you? Why or why not?
  3. Where do you need the Lamb to “touch the door” of your life — your family, your mind, your future?
  4. How does knowing that Jesus removes sin, not just covers it, change the way you see yourself?

Prayer:

Jesus, You are the Lamb of God who carried what I could never carry. Today I lay down my shame, my guilt, my fear, and my striving at Your feet. Thank You that You chose the cross willingly because You chose me. Touch every door in my life that needs Your grace and transformation. Let what once brought fear now become a place of freedom and new beginnings. I behold You, Lamb of God — my sacrifice, my salvation, my hope. Amen.

Action Step:

Take a moment today to intentionally hand something over to Jesus — a burden, a regret, or a fear you’ve been holding onto. Speak it out in prayer and choose not to carry it again.

Family Declaration:

We behold the Lamb of God. Jesus carries what we cannot. His blood covers our home, our hearts, and our future. What the enemy meant for harm, God is turning for purpose. We declare freedom, restoration, and new beginnings in our family. We are redeemed, transformed, and protected by the Lamb. Amen.
