Scripture:

Daniel 2:21 (ESV) “He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”

Devotional Thought:

We live in a world where leadership, politics and the future of our nation can easily become the centre of our attention. Elections matter, and the decisions made by those in authority affect our lives. But we must never forget that no earthly leader is greater than God.

Daniel lived in Babylon under a king and a system he had not chosen. Yet he remained faithful to God. He understood that although Babylon had a king, God was still King over everything.

The same is true for us today. We can be concerned about our country without allowing fear, frustration or political opinions to steal our peace. We can participate in society, stand for what is right, pray for our leaders and still remember where our ultimate allegiance belongs.

We must also be careful not to allow our political opinions to become more important than our Christian values. Our integrity, love and faith should never depend on which side someone stands on.

Earthly leadership changes, governments come and go, and elections pass. But Jesus remains the same. Our hope is not found in a political party or a person in power; our hope is found in the King of Kings.

The ballot may determine who leads the country, but it doesn't determine who rules the universe. God is still King!

Reflection Questions:

1. Have I allowed the news, politics or uncertainty about the future to affect my peace?
2. Am I allowing my faith and biblical values to guide my opinions and decisions?
3. What can I do this week to be salt and light in my community?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are the King above every earthly ruler. Help me to keep my heart and trust firmly rooted in You, regardless of what happens around me. Give me wisdom to make good decisions, courage to stand for what is right, and grace to respect and love those who think differently from me. I pray for our nation and its leaders. May Your truth, justice and righteousness be seen in our land. Help me to be salt and light wherever You have placed me. In Jesus' name, amen.

Action Step:

Pray for our nation and its leaders this week. Choose one practical way to bring hope, kindness, justice or encouragement into your community, and make sure your actions reflect the values of God's Kingdom.

Family Declaration:

We declare that God is King over our lives and our nation. Our hope is not in earthly leaders, but in Jesus Christ. We will stand for truth, walk in integrity, show love and be salt and light wherever we go. Our peace will not be shaken by the circumstances around us, because our trust is in the One who holds tomorrow. Jesus is King, and His Kingdom is eternal! Amen.
