LEGACY: THANKS GIVING SUNDAY
Psalm 78:4 (ESV) “We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.”
It is easy to become so focused on what is next that we forget to stop and thank God for what He has already done.
We think about the next breakthrough, the next prayer, the next season, or the next miracle. But sometimes we simply need to pause and say, “Look what God has done!”
Remembering God's faithfulness isn't living in the past. It gives us faith for the future. If God provided before, He can provide again. If He carried us then, He can carry us now.
But Psalm 78 takes remembering one step further. It tells us not to keep God's goodness to ourselves. We are called to tell the next generation what God has done. That's what legacy is.
Legacy isn't only about what we leave behind. It's about what we are building today that will outlive us. Someone is watching your life. Someone is learning from your faith, your choices, and the way you respond when life gets difficult.
We don't pass on what we occasionally say. We pass on what we consistently live.
So take some time today to remember. Thank God for His faithfulness, and then ask yourself: What am I handing down?
Your story of God's goodness could become someone else's foundation of faith.
Father, thank You for everything You have done in my life. Forgive me for sometimes becoming so focused on what is next that I forget to remember Your faithfulness. Help me to recognise Your goodness and never take it for granted. Give me opportunities to share my story and show the next generation what it looks like to trust and follow You. May the life I build today become a foundation that others can stand on tomorrow. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Take a few minutes today to write down three things God has done for you. Thank Him for each one. Then share one of those stories with someone in your family, especially a child or younger person.
Today we declare: We will remember the goodness of God. We will tell our children and the generations coming after us about His faithfulness, His provision, His protection, and His love. We will not only receive what God has given us—we will intentionally pass our faith on. What God has built in us will become a foundation for those who come after us. Our family will leave a legacy of faith. Amen.
