WEEKLY DEVOTION

FILLED UP

Scripture:

Matthew 11:28-29 (NIV) "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

Devotional Thought:

Life has a way of draining us. We pour ourselves into work, family, ministry, and responsibilities until one day we realise we're running on empty. The hardest part is that our souls don't flash a warning light like a phone battery or a car's fuel gauge. Often, we only realise we're empty when we lose our joy, our patience, or our peace.

Jesus understands our weariness. Instead of placing more demands on us, He extends a simple invitation: "Come to Me." He doesn't ask us to earn His rest or fix ourselves first. He simply asks us to come.

The problem isn't always that we're too busy—sometimes it's that we're trying to be filled by the wrong source. We look to success, approval, possessions, or even a lighter schedule to satisfy our souls, but only Jesus can replenish what life has drained.

When we stay connected to Him, we don't have to live exhausted. He refreshes our hearts, strengthens our spirits, and gives us the grace to keep pouring into others without running dry. The answer to an empty soul isn't doing less—it's staying closer to the Saviour.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What areas of my life are leaving me feeling spiritually or emotionally empty?
  2. Have I been trying to find fulfillment in something other than Jesus?
  3. What can I do this week to spend more intentional time with Christ?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for inviting me to come to You just as I am. You know every burden I carry and every place where I feel empty. Forgive me for looking to other things to satisfy my soul. Today I choose to draw near to You. Fill me with Your peace, renew my strength, and replenish every weary place in my life so that I can live from Your fullness. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Action Step:

Set aside at least 15 uninterrupted minutes today to be with Jesus. Put away distractions, read His Word, pray, and simply rest in His presence. Allow Him to replenish your soul before you pour into anyone else.

Family Declaration:

Today we declare: As a family, we choose Jesus as our source. We will not live from emptiness, but from His fullness. The Lord is our Shepherd, and He will replenish every weary place in our lives. We will stay close to Him, trust Him with every burden, and overflow with His love, peace, and strength. Our home will be refreshed because we are filled by the presence of God. Amen.
