WEEKLY DEVOTION

COME AND SEE

Scripture

"Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip." John 1:45–46 (NIV)

Devotional Thought

One of the simplest yet most powerful invitations in the Bible is found in three words: “Come and see.” Philip had just encountered Jesus, and instead of trying to win an argument or prove a point, he simply invited Nathanael to experience Jesus for himself.

Many people today have questions, doubts, or even negative perceptions about church and faith. Like Nathanael, they may wonder, “Can anything good come from that?” Our role is not to have every answer or convince everyone through debate. Our role is to invite people to encounter Jesus.

Jesus welcomed curiosity. Zacchaeus climbed a tree because he simply wanted to see who Jesus was, and Jesus met him there. The same Jesus is still meeting people today. Someone in your life may be closer to faith than you realize—they may just need an invitation.

Remember, you are not responsible for someone’s response. You are responsible for your invitation. A simple conversation, a text message, a coffee invitation, or an invitation to church could be the beginning of a life-changing encounter with Jesus.

Reflection Questions

  1. Who has God placed in my life that needs an invitation to “come and see”?
  2. What fears or insecurities have kept me from inviting others?
  3. Have I experienced Jesus in a way that naturally makes me want to share Him with others?
  4. How can I make it easier for someone to encounter Jesus this week?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for inviting me into a relationship with You. Help me to see the people around me through Your eyes. Give me courage to invite others to encounter You, even when I feel unqualified or uncertain. Let my life reflect Your love, grace, and hope. Use my words and actions to point someone closer to Jesus this week. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Action Step

Pray for one specific person today and intentionally invite them to church, a life group, a coffee conversation, or simply to hear your story of what Jesus has done in your life.

Family Declaration

As for me and my house, we will not keep the goodness of God to ourselves. We will be people who invite, encourage, and point others to Jesus. We believe that one invitation can change a life, and we choose to say, “Come and see.” In Jesus’ name, Amen.
