Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

Devotional Thought:

In many battles, the most important ground is the centre. Whoever controls the centre controls the direction of the fight. From the centre come communication, decisions, and authority.

Spiritually, the centre of your life is your heart. That is why Scripture tells us to guard it carefully. The enemy is not only interested in your circumstances; he wants influence over your heart because whatever sits at the centre of your heart will eventually shape your life.

Jesus calls us to keep Him at the centre. When Christ rules our hearts, our priorities, decisions, and responses begin to align with His will. But this requires intentional surrender. Guarding the centre means choosing what influences our hearts and continually submitting ourselves to God.

As long as the King holds the centre, the direction of your life remains secure.

1. What currently has the greatest influence over my heart?
2. Is there anything competing with Christ for the centre of my life?

Prayer:

Father, help me to guard my heart and keep Jesus at the centre of my life. Where other things have taken priority, bring my heart back into alignment with You. Let Christ rule my heart so that my life reflects Your will. Amen.

Identify one influence in your life this week that helps keep Christ at the centre—and make time for it daily.
