“So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.” — Ephesians 2:19 (NLT)
“And the voice came to him again a second time, ‘What God has made clean, do not call common.’”
— Acts 10:15 (ESV)
Every family has its own recipes, traditions, and stories that are passed down through the generations. But God has set a bigger table—a Kingdom table—where every culture, background, and story finds a place.
In Acts 10, Peter sees a vision of food he once considered “unclean,” and God tells him, “Do not call common what I have made clean.” This vision wasn’t just about food—it was about people. God was showing Peter (and us) that His Kingdom is for every tribe, tongue, and nation.
Ephesians 2:19 reminds us that in Christ we are no longer strangers, but members of God’s family. Our identity is not defined by our last name, our culture, or our past—it’s defined by Christ. At God’s table, walls come down, diversity is celebrated, and our stories are woven into a greater legacy: His Kingdom mission.
Just like a potjie pot, where different ingredients are layered together under the same fire to create one rich meal, God takes our different stories and blends them into something greater than we could ever be on our own.
Father, thank You for inviting me to Your table. Thank You that my story, my culture, and my heritage are not barriers but part of the beauty of Your Kingdom. Help me to see others as You see them—cleansed, chosen, and loved. Break down walls in my heart and home so that my life reflects the welcome of Your table. Empower me to live with Kingdom vision and to pour out what I receive into the lives of others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
This week, invite someone from a different background, culture, or story to your table—whether it’s for a meal, a coffee, or simply a conversation. Use the moment to listen, learn, and remind them that God’s Kingdom has room for them too.
“We are members of God’s family. Our table is open, our stories are redeemed, and our heritage is part of God’s Kingdom legacy. Together, we will reflect heaven on earth—one table, many stories, one Lord.”
